About HIP'92

HIP’92 is an organisation established in 1992 in the community of Hoogwoud, which is committed to participate in youth exchange projects in Europe. The goal is to bring young people into contact with other (youth) groups and cultures, to gain insights about global, cultural and social issues.

HIP’92 started with its first activities at the end of the year 1991. People who were working for the Youth-service of the community of Opmeer had ideas for organising an international exchange. In the summer of 1992 the first exchange in which HIP participated was organised in our own village Hoogwoud. The Youth-centre Pardoes was the location where most of the activities were held, the foreign visitors stayed with host-families in Hoogwoud and Opmeer. After 1992 HIP has organised several exchanges in Hoogwoud and also has taken part in several exchanges all over Europe.

The program of the exchanges are always different, they are often related to the country, location and accommodation where the exchange is taking place. For the HIP home projects we have some special things which are often very much appreciated by our foreign guests: cycling for a whole week on your own bike through the countryside mudwalking on the bottom of the sea visit to the capital of the Netherlands: Amsterdam sitting around the fire at the Pardoes square skippy-bal fighting above the swimming pool doing a performance at the final evening: the Coloured Evening The exchanges are financially supported by the European Youth for Europe. We also need to finance a part of the exchange activities by ourselves. For this we organise several fundraising activities throughout the year. Famous yearly activities for raising money are the car-washing in front of the Hoogwoud supermarket, renting Sinterklaas and Black Pete for a children-visit during the weeks before December 5th, several lotteries and sponsored sport activities.

Mission

HIP’92 believes it is important to get young people acquainted with different backgrounds on a cultural, educational, social skills and financial level. The aim is to learn from each other, develop new interests and, who knows, make friends for life.

Vision

HIP’92 strives to participate every year at least in one Erasmus+ project. In order to do so, the board of HIP’92 is open to netwerk with new organisations, participate in current but also new projects.
